How did you get into this field?

My dad always encouraged me to pursue engineering as he believed that I possessed the math and technical skills that would allow me to be successful. I pursued my degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toledo. I always knew that I wanted to be customer facing and help to solve complex issues. My first role out of college allowed me to do just that, and it also gave me an opportunity to meet many industry leaders and show me where I may have a good fit in the market.

What is your favorite part about your job?

I would say that my favorite part of my job is the interaction with my team and clients. Being positioned to help others establish a path to success and an avenue by which to grow personally and professionally is a goal that was set. I truly enjoy that our work has an impact on so many people and allows our team to constantly utilize their skillsets to find appropriate solutions. Every day is a new challenge that involves new circumstances and problem-solving skills.

What is the most challenging part about your job?

The most challenging part of my job is hitting the off button. When you are passionate about what you do, and work does not feel like work, it is hard to slow yourself at times and take a breath.

Why did you decide to become a PCBC member?

I have always admired what the PCBC stands for and what it represents within our community. With that admiration also comes excitement, as I was always viewing it from the outside. To be positioned now at the helm of a company and have the ability to make the decision to be a part of PCBC is amazing to me. I believe PCBC will provide a platform to be aware of opportunities that will give back to the community and the industry. Most importantly, it will provide the exposure to youth, peers, and anyone else willing to listen, what engineering can look like.

What challenges do you face as an African American business professional?

I firmly believe challenges surround us all, some greater and more complex than others. My path may look very different from the next person who has worked hard to achieve their goals. As an African American business professional, I constantly work to overcome obstacles and find ways to perfect my craft. Ultimately it comes down to understanding your surroundings and landscape, putting a strategic plan in place, and executing appropriately. The constant is having to remind myself and those around me, that we can only control the controllables.

What are your goals for your business and how do you see PC being part of that process?

The goal for our business is to continue finding success in positioning our customers for operational success. This will involve growth for our team collectively and most importantly allowing us the ability to provide the same high level of service to our existing and future customers.
I envision the PC to seamlessly integrate within our existing process and add additional value through networking and the ability to bring more community together. The PC has a phenomenal reputation of connecting individuals and organizations to promote collaborations and birth new ideas.

What are you looking forward to getting out of your membership?
